HMD Global Releasing 4G-enabled Nokia 3310

The iconic handset is about to get an upgrade

While the rebooted Nokia 3310 gave us a taste of nostalgia, it was still very much a featurephone that lacked many of the features of a full-fledged smartphones. One of the features that most of us would probably like on such a simple device is 4G connectivity, as relying on 3G networks for data even for such a simple device is a little frustrating.

Well, it looks like HMD Global will be releasing a 4G version of the phone, according to a listing in TENAA, China’s regulatory body for telecommunication devices. That’s right: the new phone will be getting 4G connectivity, as well as a new OS in the form of YunOS over s30+ that’s on the first variant of the rebooted 3310.

YunOS is able to run a few apps that’s on the Android operating system, though not as complex. That means there’s a high chance of seeing stripped down apps like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others on the 4G-enabled 3310, though we’ll have to wait for an official announcement from the company.
