OPPO has been trying for years to make their flagship offerings as good as the ones made by their rivals like Samsung and Apple, and it looks like 2021 is the year they finally succeed. The Find X3 Pro is one of the best-looking and best-performing handsets we’ve used from the company so far, and it the only phone we’ve seen so far that has a macro shooter that really does what it’s supposed to.
Packaging and contents
OPPO is going with a new box design for their more high-end offerings which should help differentiate their more premium phones VS their lower-end devices.
Inside the box is the phone, a case that matches the colorway, a 65W SuperVOOC charger, Type-C cable, documentation and SIM ejector.
Design
It’s very likely that the Find X3’s overall design is going to be polarizing for people, but personally, we like it. The camera module blends neatly with the glass back, and while there’s still a camera bump there, the resulting shape looks more organic than what we’re used to seeing on other phones. Ultimately how you feel about it is up to you, and if you like hard angles over more natural, rounded shapes, you’re not going to like how the OPPO Find X3 Pro looks.
Aside from that, the phone looks to be as high quality as any other flagship phone released in recent memory. It uses a metal frame sandwiched by the glass, with curved sides and rounded corners for better ergonomics.
The phone comes in two colors: gloss black, which has been treated to give a ceramic glaze to the finish, as well as a dual-tone blue colorway with an anti-glare frost matte material process that helps repel fingerprints.
The phone also gets IP68 resistance like the Find X2 Pro, which means it’s both dust and water-resistant, and can be submerged in waters 1.5 meters deep without the internals getting damaged.
Display
OPPO isn’t leaving anything to chance with their new flagship and is pulling out all the stops to make it as good as their rivals. The display of the Find X3 Pro is one of the best we’ve seen as a result.
As for hard specs, you’re looking at a 6.7-inch curved panel with a 3216 x 1440 resolution (QHD+), along with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 1300 nit peak brightness. The refresh rate is applied on both QHD+ resolutions and FHD+ resolutions as well.
The display looks really good, and OPPO’s proud of the fact that their panel gets a grade of A+ from DisplayMate. There’s HDR10+ certification here as well, and an overall screen-to-body ratio of 92.7% – one of the highest that the brand has been able to achieve.
Like other phones in the market, the Find X3 Pro uses adaptive refresh technology, which varies the refresh rate of the panel depending on what you’re looking at. If you’re simply reading text or looking a picture, the refresh rate drops to conserve battery, and ramps back up when you start navigating through your phone or start watching videos.
Cameras
Like we said earlier, OPPO’s clearly flexing their camera muscle with the Find X3 Pro. The phone uses a quad-camera module at the back, though unlike other phones the quad-camera stack pack camera sensors aren’t just feature stuffers.
Both the wide-angle lens and ultra-wide shooter use the same sensor – a 50-megapixel Sony IMX 766 that has a total size of 1/1.56″. The wide-angle main shooter has an f/1.8 aperture lens with OIS and a Pixel Omni-directional PDAF. The ultra-wide-angle camera meanwhile has an f/2.2 aperture lens and a 7P lens.
There’s also a telephoto camera here with a 13-megapixel lens and an f/2.4 aperture, capable of shooting 5x hybrid optical shots.
The most interesting camera in the stack though is the micro (yes, not macro) lens. This is a 3-megapixel sensor that does 60x magnification(!) with an f/3.0 aperture. This thing is a freaking mini microscope, though you will have to keep your hands steady and your subject well lit to get good results. But when everything lines up, you can take really interesting and gorgeous micro shots.
Hardware
The Find X3 Pro gets only the best chip available, that being the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. There really isn’t anything left to be said about Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip that hasn’t been said before—it’s extremely fast, and is pretty much overkill for a majority of Android apps and games currently in the market, and has 5G capability baked right in. If you buy the Find X3 Pro (or any SD 888 equipped phone for that matter) you’re pretty much future-proofed as far as performance goes for a good 2-3 years.
For RAM and storage, OPPO is offering the Find X3 Pro with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage.
The Find X3 Pro runs ColorOS 11.2, which in turn is built on top of Android 11. OPPO’s done a great job keeping their OS in line with the look and feel of the current version of Android while at the same time injecting their own features into the mix. Those features include a customizable dark mode, OPPO’s Relax 2.0 feature that allows you to listen to white noise, a private system folder to keep files secure, and more.
Battery capacity is pegged at 4500mAh, and OPPO’s SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charge tech is able to pump out an impressive 65W to give the phone 40% of juice in just 10 minutes. There’s also 30W fast wireless charging here as well with the AirVOOC, and there’s 10W reverse wireless charging on tap if your wireless earphones or other similar accessory needs emergency juice.
Early verdict:
The OPPO Find X3 Pro looks to be as solid a flagship as they come and has a great mix of features that everyone looks for and new stuff that we haven’t seen before.
That micro camera is really interesting but it’s still up for debate how much you’ll use it in day-to-day life.

The Find X3 Pro is priced at 1149 Euros (~Php 66.6k) and will be available in Europe starting March 30. Pricing in Europe is usually higher, so expect local pricing to be lower once OPPO makes the Find X3 Pro official in the Philippines.
