5 Top Features of the vivo Y27

While vivo has made significant improvements on its mid-range line, it is also improving its budget offerings to offer better value for money. The Y27 is a great example of that: coming from last year’s Y16, vivo made several improvements across the board to make the Y27 a compelling phone for under Php 9,000–and a competitive offering as well.

Having used the Y27 for a few weeks, we do think that vivo is doing a good job with its budget offerings. Here are the things we like about the Y27:

A Full HD+ display with a good brightness range. At this point, there’s no reason for budget phones–specifically those priced at under Php 10k–to settle for an HD+ resolution. vivo is well aware of that, and gave the Y27 a Full HD+ resolution for its IPS display. Despite it still has a notch, the Y27’s display is brighter than the competition and supports Widevine L1 so that you can enjoy your favorite Netflix shows in Full HD.

Decent processor of choice for its price. Compared to last year’s Y16, the Y27 comes with a tried-and-tested Helio G85 processor that can handle multi-tasking better. People may argue about the Helio G85 being an aging processor in 2023, but it remains to be one of the better options in the under Php 10k segment. What makes the Helio G85 decent is that it can do a bit of gaming, as its GPU is good enough to run some of the most popular mobile games in the market.

44w fast charging out of the box. People don’t like waiting long for their phones to be fully charged, and vivo knows that. The Y27 is the brand’s most affordable offering to support 44w charging, allowing it to top up its 5000mAh battery in roughly an hour. It’s one of the fastest charging speeds in its price segment, and is one of the standout features of the Y27 in its price segment.

Optimized main rear camera. Beyond its partnership with Zeiss for its X-series phones, vivo has been improving the camera performance of all its phones including budget models. The Y27 is no exception, as its 50-megapixel camera takes good photos for a budget device thanks to the optimized post-processing vivo has made for its camera software.

IP54 rating for peace of mind. With some mid-range phones starting to add an IP67 rating as a standard feature, budget phones are also pushing for having an IP rating. The Y27 does have an IP54 rating, which is something you’d be hard-pressed to find in an under Php 10k phone. Having an IP rating gives you that added confidence that minor water splashes will not render your phone unusable.

The vivo Y27 is priced at Php 8,999 and is available at authorized vivo stores, Shopee, and Lazada.
