The Wireless Charging Pillow by Fatboy is actually a collaboration between Nokia and Fatboy. It uses the Qi wireless charging standard so it’s actually compatible with a variety of smartphones and tablets (not just Nokia products). What does this mean? As long as your device has Qi wireless charging technology, you can just lay it down on the pillow and it will charge. Yes folks, no wires (though you have to plug the pillow, hehe). It’s actually available here in the Philippines through online stores but it’s priced pretty high due to importation and tax costs.
During our recent trip to Singapore we made it a point to pick one up from Funan Digital Lifestyle Mall. We heard that they were selling it at a good price there as opposed to the current going rate locally. We were able to get one for around Php3,000. We’ve been using it for the last few days and we’d like to share with you guys our review!
What’s It Made Of?
The Wireless Charging Pillow by Fatboy has three major components. First is the wireless charging unit itself which is made by Nokia. Second is the Fatboy Pillow which you houses the wireless charger of Nokia (you can open the pillow through the velcro straps). Lastly is the plug which you connect to your usual power outlet.
Once you plug it in just lay down your phone or tablet on it and it will charge automatically. Pick it up and it will stop charging.
It’s All About Convenience
So you’re probably thinking… why get a wireless charger? It’s all about convenience. Each time you get home or to the office all you have to do is put your phone on it and it will charge. If you get a call, pick it up and use it with no fear of tugging a wire.
By the way, most Nexus devices have Qi wireless charging technology built-in. For example, both the Nexus 5 and the Nexus 7 (2013 edition) work with the Wireless Charging Pillow! Awesomeness. By the way, if you haven’t read our full review of the Nexus 5 yet, click here.
