IDC has recently shared its report on smartphone shipments in Southeast Asia for the first quarter of 2024. With a 19% year-on-year growth, the largest growth is seen in Indonesia and the Philippines. Even more interesting is the top brand in the Philippines: unlike the majority of Southeast Asian countries, Transsion is the top brand in the Philippines for the first quarter of 2024 with a dominating 44% market share–or a massive annual growth of 188%.

Transsion also enjoyed massive annual growth in Indonesia and Malaysia at 279% and 443% respectively, which shows how the group–consisting of itel, Infinix, and TECNO–aggressively expanded its presence in Southeast Asia. Despite that, Samsung has been able to keep the top spot in the majority of Southeast Asia thanks to the positive reception for the Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy A series.

As for Transsion, their massive rise in market share for 2024, especially in the Philippines, is credited to multiple releases from TECNO, Infinix, and itel–where they mostly target the budget to mid-range segment. Among the notable ones include the POVA 6 Pro, Spark 20 Pro, P55 5G, HOT 40 Pro, and ZERO 30 4G.
