OPPO Find N3 Flip First Impressions Philippines: Big Camera Boost

OPPO Find N3 Flip First Impressions Philippines: Big Camera Boost

OPPO Find N3 Flip Philippines Initial Verdict: As the first flip foldable to have three rear cameras, OPPO promises the Find N3 Flip to be a superb camera phone with its no-filler setup. It retains the same compact design of the Find N2 Flip, but OPPO has made software improvements to add more functionality to the display.

Pros

-Cameras are a good upgrade

-More functional outer display

Cons

-Pricing will play a big factor

Only 7 months after OPPO made the Find N2 Flip available in the Philippines, the brand has announced the global availability of its successor. The Find N3 Flip retains all of the things we love about the Find N2 Flip and gets a big upgrade in the camera department. Is it worth waiting for the Find N3 Flip’s arrival in the Philippines instead of going for the Find N2 Flip?

We got our hands on the Find N3 Flip ahead of its global launch in Singapore, and here are our first impressions of the latest flip foldable from OPPO.

OPPO Find N3 Flip Philippines: Design

Save for the revamped module to house the triple rear camera setup, the Find N3 Flip retains the same form factor as the Find N2 Flip. That includes the same size for the internal display and the same outer display that has a vertical orientation. Even with those changes, the Find N3 Flip’s dimensions are roughly the same as its predecessor, with its weight being 7 grams heavier to accommodate the new camera setup.

Aside from the new camera module, the Find N3 Flip gets an alert slider that allows you to switch call profiles on the fly without fumbling through settings. Our review unit is in gold, which has a glossy finish. There’s also a Pink color option for the Find N3 Flip, but we were told that only the black and gold colors will be made available locally.

The Find N3 Flip retains the waterdrop hinge of the Find N2 Flip, giving it a gapless design when folded and a virtually crease-free display when unfolded. OPPO claims that the Find N3 Flip is rated for 600,000 folds, which is around 8 years if we follow the average of 100 folds a day.

OPPO Find N3 Flip Philippines: Display

As we mentioned earlier, the Find N3 Flip’s inner and outer displays are the same as its predecessor. That’s not a bad thing, since the inner display remains the ideal size for a flip foldable, while the outer display remains one of the best among flip foldables.

The outer display gains more functions, with several apps supporting it. This means that there are tasks that you can do on the Find N3 Flip without needing to unfold it. Apps like X, Threads, Telegram, Uber, Google Maps, and Google Calendar scale properly on the Find N3 Flip’s outer display, and you can do quick replies too through the on-screen keyboard.

As for the inner display, the Find N3 Flip’s crease is less visible than the Galaxy Z Flip5 despite the latter updating its hinge. The display is just as great as the one used on the Find N2 Flip, but OPPO used a polarizer-free feature on the Find N3 Flip that helps in lessening reflections when you are using it outdoors. OPPO also claims that the feature can lessen the Find N3 Flip’s power consumption by 20%, but we will need a longer time with the phone to verify those claims.

OPPO Find N3 Flip Philippines: Cameras

The biggest upgrade on the Find N3 Flip is the cameras. Accompanying the already-good 50-megapixel main shooter are a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 32-megapixel portrait telephoto camera. This gives the Find N3 Flip a versatile set of shooters that are unheard of in a flip foldable.

Comparing the main camera with the new wide and telephoto cameras, the Find N3 Flip delivers a consistent performance across all three cameras. Colors have the right amount of saturation with Hasselblad’s color science, and you get a nice depth-of-field with the telephoto camera especially when using portrait mode.

While the telephoto camera used is the same one you’d find on the Reno10 and Reno10 Pro, the Find N3 Flip’s portrait mode is more polished with its clean subject separation and smooth background blur.

The 50-megapixel main shooter does get improvements especially when using 2x digital zoom. Even in low-light conditions, the Find N3 Flip’s main camera still has a good amount of detail even when using 2x digital zoom.

From our short time with the Find N3 Flip, we can certainly say that the cameras are the biggest upgrade on this phone. OPPO wants its foldable phones to have excellent camera performance, and both the Find N3 and N3 Flip are a testament to that.

OPPO Find N3 Flip Philippines: Internals and Battery

The Find N3 Flip gets a boost with a more powerful Dimensity 9200 processor that’s paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB internal storage–with the latter being UFS 4.0. On paper, the Dimensity 9200 has a more powerful GPU and newer prime CPU core than the Dimensity 9000. Benchmark tests reveal a 30% performance improvement on the Dimensity 9200, but we will have to do our own set of tests to confirm this.

The Find N3 Flip comes with Android 13-based ColorOS 13 out of the box. Like the Find N3, OPPO commits to 4 major updates and 5 years of security updates to the Find N3 Flip.

The Find N3 Flip’s battery remains the same at 4300mAh, along with the same support for 44w wired charging. Despite that, we expect the Find N3 Flip to have a better battery life with the tweaks done to the display and the newer processor it uses.

OPPO Find N3 Flip Philippines: Wrap-up and Initial Verdict

The main selling point of the Find N3 Flip is its cameras. Our first impressions show that the Find N3 Flip’s triple camera setup shows a lot of promise, offering added versatility and better post-processing with its use of Hasselblad’s color science. Like our sentiments with the Find N3, OPPO needs to give a really good price for the Find N3 Flip if it wants to replicate its success with the Find N2 Flip in the Philippines.
