Samsung Galaxy A72 Rumored to have a Penta-Rear Camera Setup

Samsung Galaxy A72 Rumored to have a Penta-Rear Camera Setup

Samsung’s Galaxy A series has been the brand’s opportunity to try out different concepts. There’s the Galaxy A9 (2018) being the brand’s first phone with four rear cameras, then there’s the Galaxy A80, which was the Korean brand’s first phone with a motorized flip-up camera module.

New reports state that Samsung is back on experimenting with its phones: this time, it is planning on one with five rear cameras, and the said phone will be called the Galaxy A72. While phones with five rear cameras aren’t new—the Nokia 9 PureView was the first to have five rear cameras, this will be a first for Samsung.

The penta-rear camera setup is said to consist of a 64-megapixel main snapper, 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, 8-megapixel telephoto camera, 5-megapixel macro camera, 5-megapixel depth sensor. The telephoto camera is said to have 3x optical zoom, and the Galaxy A72 might be the first Galaxy A-series phone to have OIS.

Samsung is doing this, as the Galaxy A-series has the brand’s answer to the stacked mid-range segment. The same report adds that Samsung has high hopes for the Galaxy A72 and A52, forecasting combined sales of 30 million units—or 10% of Samsung’s total sales volume.
