Automotive Upstart OMODA Is Coming To The Philippines

With the automotive scene in our country growing more intense than ever, there’s a new player that wants to be taken seriously. The OMODA brand is coming to the Philippines to take a share of the country’s blossoming vehicle market. Here’s what they’re all about as well as their first offering.

Based on some research, OMODA is connected to Chery’s international division – although it appears that they’ll be operating separately in the country. The “O” symbolizes surprise, positivity, energy, and life-giving Oxygen. Meanwhile, “MODA” stems from the word modern which portrays the brand’s desire to be youthful and fashionable. As such, the brand promises to deliver products with sleek exterior styling and high-tech features to satisfy the needs of the new generation.

The company boasts that its Global R&D team has conducted over 1000 research studies in 20+ countries, in order to discover the needs and wants of the modern-day consumer. Additionally, the goal is to smoothly mesh together the best characteristics from numerous segments: space of an MPV, chassis stability of an MPV and the refinement of a sedan.

Its first model in the Philippines will be the OMODA 5. As of now, currently available information mentions that it will come with a stylish grille, fastback bodywork, floating roof, T-shaped DRLs, dynamic turn-signals, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The brand is targeting a sporty, modern aesthetic.

It’s just as snazzy inside the cabin. Comfort is taken care of by cooled/heated leather seats and dual-zone climate control. Also coming in a pair are the dual 10.25-inch displays, while the rest of the interior tech includes a 4.0 human-machine interface system and ADAS with 16 safe driving assistance functions. Under the hood is a 1.6-liter turbo engine outputting 197hp mated to a rapid-shifting 7-speed DCT.

We’ve yet to find more information on this, but the estimated timeline is a local brand launch of OMODA in the Philippines by the latter part of 2023. We’ll give you updates once we get them.
