BlackBerry Phones Might Be Making A Comeback

You just can’t kill a good brand it seems, and it looks like there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing BlackBerry smartphones making a comeback in the near future. Onward Mobility, the company that took over the BlackBerry brand from TCL back in August of last year is teasing the revival of the phone brand that just won’t die.

Onward Mobility is getting insight from the public via The Program, a “pre-commitment program to expand its engagement with customers interested in purchasing the new and innovative BlackBerry 5G smartphones.”

Potential customers that join The Program get to give input about the features and functions of the phone, as well as the option to pre-order the device (and get it first before the general public) when it launches.

This is a great move by Onward Mobility, as the company does not have any experience in building, marketing, or selling smartphones at all, though they have partnered with FIH Mobile Limited (a subsidiary of Foxconn Technology Group) to produce the 5G-capable, BlackBerry smartphone with a physical keyboard. Reviving a brand after more than a decade of decline is an ambitious goal, but it if there’s anyone that can stage a BlackBerry comeback, it’ll be them.

Despite that, there’s still the question of the phone’s place in the market. While Onward Mobility promises to deliver industry-leading security fit to grace the hands of Fortune 500 companies and Governments, other brands like Samsung and Apple have already stepped up and is offering comprehensive security solutions to make their devices secure enough for even the most paranoid of government agencies.
