Call Of Duty Vanguard Introduces Filipino Character From WWII

The Call of Duty franchise has always been a hit in the Philippines. Its popularity skyrocketed even further with the release of COD Mobile (CODM), which brought iconic maps from all the games into an accessible and mostly free smartphone experience. Now, added to the expansive list of characters for Call of Duty Vanguard is a Filipino character. That’s a +1 for representation in our books.

The character in question is named Isabella Rosario Dulnuan Reyes, or Isabella Reyes for short. According to the official page, she was born in 1923 and raised on the Philippine Islands. She was raised by her father who was a soldier in the US Army – and taught fighting, disarming, and Arnis techniques at an extremely young age.

After her father’s demise during the infamous Death March, the 19-year-old joined the resistance group Hukbalahap in order to exact vengeance and bring an end to the war. As of the game’s timeline, she is a member of the faction Task Force Trident. Her in-game signature moves embody her lineage as a close-combat specialist as well as a guerilla fighter.

It’s certainly unique to see a Filipino character in Call of Duty, especially if it’s one who represents our strong women out there. These kinds of characters become quite iconic; an example being Josie Rizal from Tekken 7.
