Comprehensive Driver’s Education Now Required Upon License Renewal

If you are renewing your driver’s license soon, you’ll be required to complete the Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) and acquire a certificate.

Comprehensive Driver’s Education Now Required Upon License Renewal“Ang lahat ng magrerenew ay kailangang dumaan sa Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) upang matanggap nila ang kanilang CDE Certificate,” said LTO in a recent advisory.

This new guideline applies to all types of licenses, whether you’re non-professional or professional. Renewers must go through Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) to get a CDE certificate.

The CDE materials are available on LTMS Portal, at LTO offices, or at LTO-Accredited Driving Schools.

The new requirement is in accordance with a  provision in the Republic Act (RA) 10930 which will be first implemented in the Central Office-Licensing Section and the Quezon City Licensing Center (QCLC) starting Oct. 28. Thereafter, it will be followed by other offices in the National Capital Region on November 3, 2021. For other areas outside Metro Manila, the starting date will be announced soon.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) also reminded the public that drivers may now apply for a 10-year Driver’s License renewal if they do not have a traffic violation record. Meanwhile, those who have traffic violation records can only apply for a 5-year renewal.

Furthermore, LTO also reminded the public that the validity of all Student Permits, Driver’s Licenses, and Conductor’s Licenses set to expire this month will be extended until Dec. 31 in consideration of the existing Quarantine Restrictions in the country.
