Developers Are Getting Creative With The New iPhone Dynamic Island

With the design of the old Apple smartphones growing old in the tooth, the company decided on a major overhaul which was announced just last week. The Apple iPhone models will now get a Dynamic Island – sort of a hole cut out, but in the shape of a pill. This form factor is able to fit in necessary components for Face ID as well as the selfie shooter while reinventing the design altogether. We have finally overcome the notch that has overstayed its welcome with the iPhone. Well, it appears that people are now looking to get creative with this in mind.

Twitter user and developer Kriss Smolska (@ksmolska) unveiled his latest creation through a Tweet posted not too long ago. The objective of the game is quite similar to brick breaker, with a slideable layer for the ball to remain in the air and hit the desired targets. Only here, the only target is the Dynamic Island on the top portion of the iPhone.

It’s very simplistic as of now and could lose its novelty very quickly. However, the point remains that the pill cutout can actually be used as a component for gaming in the future. Not only that, but other applications can also take full advantage of this – especially since all iPhones have their islands at the same location, unlike Android devices which come in thousands of shapes and sizes. We can imagine app integration with the most popular ones, particularly ones like YouTube and Netflix where it could prove intrusive to the viewing experience if left unoptimized.

Another option could be to implement it on wallpapers, much like what we saw on the Samsung Galaxy S10+ of yesteryear. This isn’t a totally new idea but we can see this happening for the latest iPhone as well, which is a quirky and fun addition.

This is all hypothetical right now, but it is impossible that the Apple developers did not think of this when they essentially brought the notch down and gave it a more modern “floaty” effect. Regardless, change is change.
