GCash Expands Operations with Overseas Beta

With GCash being one of the go-to eWallets in the Philippines for cashless transactions, the fintech platform announced that it is expanding its services abroad to accommodate OFWs as well. initially available in Australia, Italy, and Japan, GCash Overseas allows Filipinos abroad to have a GCash account using their number overseas. This follows after GCash gained the approval from BSP to expand its operations internationally.

Like the local version of GCash, GCash Overseas requires a Philippine Passport and any valid Philippine ID so that they can get their overseas GCash account verified.

With this feature, OFWs can now send money to any GCash account, along with being able to pay bills, buy load, and more. In addition, OFWs can save from remittance charges when sending money from their GCash account to the GCash accounts of their loved ones.

GCash Overseas is currently in beta, and it is inviting the first 1,000 Filipinos to try the service abroad. “Truly a huge collective effort from our team for the Filipino OFWs and migrants around the world,” GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon said in her post.

Aside from Italy, Australia, and Japan, GCash said that it will also make its service available to OFWs based in the US as well in the coming weeks. Currently, GCash can be used as a payment option to select merchants in Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, Singapore, and South Korea.
