Goodbye Exynos: All Galaxy S23 Models to Use Snapdragon Processors

Looks like we will not see the Exynos 2300 for good, as Qualcomm has confirmed that the entire lineup of Galaxy S23 phones—regardless of region—will use a Snapdragon processor (presumably the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2).

Qualcomm CFO Akash Palkhiwala said in the company’s Q4 earnings call that they are looking at a strong March 2023 thanks to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 phones.

So from a March quarter perspective, you’re right, the benefit from the Samsung launch for the new phone would be in the in kind of the second half of the March quarter. So it comes in towards the end of the quarter, but that will be an advantage, whereas our share from 75% in Galaxy S22 goes up to global share in Galaxy S23.

This has been further confirmed by CEO Cristiano Amon, where he said that Qualcomm has a multi-year partnership with Samsung where all premium Galaxy phones globally will exclusively use Snapdragon processors.

This has been confirmed as well with early Geekbench records, where a Galaxy S23 is rocking a yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Based on the listing, the processor will have a 3.36Ghz prime core, 4 2.80Ghz performance cores, and 3 2.02Ghz efficiency cores.

We still don’t know if Samsung is going to push for an all-Snapdragon lineup for the Galaxy S23 series—there’s a possibility that the Exynos 2300, which will be manufactured by Samsung Semiconductors, will make its way to the Galaxy S23.
