Honor Phones Return To The Philippines, Arrives In Stores Q4 2022

Honor, the former sub-brand of Huawei that offered affordable phones, will officially return to the Philippines. The company tapped Iridium Technologies Philippines as its main partner for its return to the country, with Honor promising the return of its products to store shelves (both real and virtual) by Q4 this year.

While Honor hasn’t specifically said what devices it’ll be bringing to the Philippines, Ricky Sy said that the brand will be prioritizing smartphones, tablets, laptops and wearables.

Honor was always put in a weird spot in the Philippine market while it was still part of Huawei’s orbit as the lower price of their phones (which had many if not all of the features of more expensive Huawei phones) threatened to cannibalize the market that its mother brand played in. Because of that, many of the better devices that had far superior price-to-specs ratio never arrived in the country.

Huawei sold Honor in 2020, which allowed the brand’s offerings to become free of US sanctions, which in turn has given Honor the right to offer their Android devices with Google Services.

The arrival of Honor phones in the Philippines is set to threaten established brands like Samsung, vivo, OPPO and realme, especially since Honor’s top tier phone, the Honor Magic4 Ultimate currently sits at the top of DXoMark.
