LTO Extends Registration Deadline for Plates Ending in 6 and 7

LTO: No More Driver’s License Backlog Next Year

Land Transportation Office (LTO) extends the registration deadline for certain plates once again. This time, it applies not only to motor vehicles affected in the NCR+ bubble but to all vehicles nationwide.

LTO Registration Deadline

In the official Facebook page of the Land Transportation Office-Philippines, the agency has released a public advisory regarding the extended validity of registration for motor vehicles with plate numbers ending in 6 and 7. Plate numbers ending in 6 will have an extended validity until August 31, 2021, while plate numbers ending in 7 will have an extended validity until September 30, 2021.

However, the public advisory posted on their Facebook page was bombarded with negative comments and complaints. According to motorists, many traffic enforcers are unaware of the registration extension as they are still getting apprehended regularly. Apparently, the extension is still causing a lot of people trouble due to the poor information dissemination by the LTO.

With the still ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and our situation here in the country, it is likely that the LTO will continue to extend the registration deadline to stick to the health protocols and social distancing guidelines mandated by the Government and the Department of Health (DOH). The Land Transportation Office (LTO) must find ways to ensure proper implementation of the registration extension.

Take note that only motor vehicles with plate numbers ending in 6 and 7 are extended. Vehicles not covered are still required to register at the nearest LTO office available. Just don’t forget to follow safety protocols if you do decide to go out and fix your LTO registrations.
