DITO Kicks Off Commercial Launch with Opening Promo

by Duey Guison  March 5, 2021

With DITO Telecommunity set to go on a full commercial launch on March 8 in select areas in Visayas and Mindanao, the upcoming third telco confirmed that they will have an Welcome Offer for its first subscribers.

As mentioned in DITO’s terms and conditions, their welcome offer will be priced at Php 199 and can be availed from March 8 to 31. The promo will offer unlimited data with no data cap, along with unlimited DITO-to-DITO calls and SMS for 30 days upon activation of the promo.

The same promo also applies for those who want to purchase a DITO SIM card: for the same price, those buying a DITO SIM card can also avail of the unlimited data promo. Visit this link for a list of outlets selling DITO SIM cards.

As mentioned in previous reports, DITO’s promo will only cover select areas where it has coverage. These include:

  • Cebu: Carcar, Cebu City, Consolacion, Danao, Liloan, Mandaue, Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando, and Talisay
  • Davao: Panabo, Tagum, Carmen, Davao City, and Digos

To avail of the DITO Welcome Offer, users must download the DITO App via the link included in the activation SMS, which will be sent to the subscriber after activating the SIM card.
From there, users will need to create and account on the DITO App, where DITO will give an initial password via SMS.
From the App Home Page, users will find a “Welcome Offer” button, which is the Php 199 unlimited internet promo. The subscriber will receive the confirmation both through the App and SMS.
With its first technical audit, DITO managed to cover 37.48% of the population, focusing mostly in Visayas and Mindanao. With the initial tests, DITO managed to deliver an average speed of 85.9Mbps for 4G and 507.5Mbps for 5G networks.
Being a new telco player, we will still have to wait and see if DITO will be able to deliver its promise.
