If you’re caught up with our articles on the site, then you’d know that we really enjoyed our time with the realme 8i. We even went as far as putting it in contention as the budget king for 2021. That’s why when the realme 9i hit stores in Vietnam according to a report by GSMArena, it immediately piqued our interest.

- 16-megapixel selfie camera
- 4G LTE connectivity

The realme 9i will carry the Snapdragon 680 processor, which is an improved version of the 662 with improved CPU, GPU, and camera performance. However, given its positioning as a budget mid-range chipset, it comes with certain limitations that cripple the phone a little bit. For starters, its display only reaches a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz, a step down from the realme 8i’s 120Hz. It’s limited to 4G LTE connectivity as well, but that’s what we expect out of the segment anyways. In this day and age, LTE is still considered quick enough not only for daily use but also for some media consumption and gaming.
Other features include a 50-megapixel shooter with two supporting 2-megapixel cameras. While megapixel count isn’t the sole statistic when it comes to real-world camera performance, these numbers definitely shine a little bit on the stat sheet.
The device runs the latest UI 2.0 on top of Android 11. As of now, the realme 9i price in Vietnam is at VND 6,490,000 (~Php 14.7k) for the 6/128GB variant.
