Smart Boasts Improved LTE Speeds In Manila As Upgrades Continue

It lists an average speed of around 21.5 Mbps

Smart’s sent an update regarding their ongoing network improvements in the metro, and is boasting faster LTE speeds than ever. According to internal tests that they’ve conducted, they’re seeing an average download speed of 21.5 Mbps in North NCR, covering Quezon City, Caloocan, Valenzuela, Novaliches, Malabon, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasig, Manila, Makati, Pasay, and Marikina. An average of 14.4 Mbps was reached in South NCR areas covering Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Taguig and Parañaque.

Coincidentally, the latest J.P.Morgan Asia Network Quality study has seen the LTE availability of Metro Manila increase from 49 percent to 63 percent in the past few months. The study covered the months of April to June, and cited crowd-sourced data gathered by wireless coverage research firm OpenSignal. The study showed Smart leading in LTE download speeds overall compared to Globe at 11 Mbps.

Smart’s network expansion isn’t done, and in line with this the company is asking for its customers’ understanding as they continue their network modernization upgrades.
