While we are still waiting for reports as to when Elon Musk’s SpaceX will bring its Starlink Internet services will arrive in the Philippines, new reports reveal that Starlink might debut in the Philippines next year.

Among the potential partners for SpaceX in the Philippines include Transpacific Broadband Group International (TBGI), which disclosed that its board approved discussions with a number of satellite operators that include SpaceX.

In its discussion, TBGI said that Low-Earth Orbit Satellites (LEOSAT) like the one being used for Starlink come with multiple benefits that include affordability, speed, flexibility, and ease of setup.

“We are excited [about] the unlimited prospects of empowering government units, businesses, and millions of Filipino households with advanced satellite internet services to meet their growing requirements for fast and reliable connectivity,” TBGI said in a statement.

While it is in talks with SpaceX, TBGI has entered an agreement with ABS Global Ltd. “for the development and maintenance of multiple state-of-the-art earth stations in strategic areas nationwide.” Its agreement with ABS Global will allow TBGI to provide facilities for an earth station in Clark, Pampanga, along with development and maintenance for the said facility.

In addition to that, Converge also confirmed that they are nearing a separate agreement with SpaceX for the use of several earth stations and its internet backbone in the Philippines.

According to reports, Starlink’s internet services will start at $99(Php 5.1k).
