When we reviewed the ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro a few months ago, it was as we expected from the device. It was stuffed to the nines on the spec sheet and had everything you could ever want. This smartphone will probably never run out of oomph for any tasks whatsoever for consumption on its fantastic display. Its build is also noteworthy for being excessively bulky like gaming laptops back in the day. However, iconic YouTube tester JerryRigEverything discovered that the device literally folds under the pressure.

Things started rather normally for this test. The ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro is equipped with the high-end Gorilla Glass Victus which fares well in the screen scratch test. As with all devices, using a sharp tool to impact the metallic frame of the device left some cosmetic damage but nothing that impacts the functionality of the device. The camera bump also boasts some resistance as the cutter is unable to leave any visible marks that would impede the optical performance of the smartphone.

However, now we get to the fold test. The YouTuber isn’t very confident with this one, as the device’s predecessor failed this one miserably and the ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro doesn’t look to be very different structurally. Within a few seconds of bending, the smartphone already looks like a Z Fold but not in the best way.

The display remains somewhat straight, but the chassis of the device parts with it and takes the form of a boomerang. The back glass is completely shattered, but the shards don’t go flying around, fortunately. One thing to praise is that the rear display continued to light up and show ASUS branding. It’s the silver lining amidst this failure.

Despite these results, we won’t deny that the ASUS ROG Phone 6 Pro is still an amazing smartphone. If boatloads of power in a complete package is what you need then this device will deliver that experience for you. The tests seen in this video is unnatural for the routines of daily life anyways. Just be a little bit careful not to turn this expensive toy into a foldable.
