Toyota Launches 2022 Avanza in Indonesia

Toyota Launches 2022 Avanza in Indonesia

The outgoing Toyota Avanza is basically the same car since its launch in 2011. It did not get any substantial updates from Toyota, just a bunch of minor updates. Nevertheless, it is still a force to reckon with in the MPV category up to this very day; all thanks to its Toyota badge. This unyielding sales performance is expected to get even better as soon as the 2022 Toyota Avanza is revealed in Indonesia.

Although Toyota literally took the time to develop the new model, Avanza enthusiasts will surely appreciate most of the changes. Gone is the old, boring, and utilitarian look, the new model looks refined, premium, and modern.

Before we discuss the obvious changes in the exterior, take note this new model is also bigger in dimension. It is 195mm longer, 130mm wider, and 5mm taller. Now that you know it’s bigger, time to know what makes it better: trapezoidal grille, new LED headlights, distinct foglight bezels, defined wheel arches, new LED taillights, and a new tailgate. To top it all off, there’s also a new set of alloy wheels for the new model.

Inside, traces of the old model are nowhere to be seen, everything is just new. The new dashboard—fitted with a 7-inch or 9-inch infotainment system depending on the variant—looks premium and refreshing. The old and ugly instrument panel has been replaced with a flashy and modern one that comes with a 7-inch digital multi-information display in the middle. Another new feature in the dashboard is the digital climate control, wireless charging pad for smartphones, engine start/stop button. Moreover, the seats are made more eye-pleasing and highly configurable. To make the interior more modern, Toyota switched to an electronic parking brake with auto hold and added rear USB charging ports.

Moving on to the platform, some of you may get disappointed and some may just don’t care. This is actually where the biggest change occurred. The Toyota Avanza is no longer the lone, rear-wheel-drive and mini MPV we used to know, it’s now in front-wheel-drive configuration. Of course, that has its own advantages, such as better fuel economy, lower ride height, and more space inside. You just have to sacrifice power delivery, vehicle balance, traction, and handling. These things shouldn’t matter in an MPV, anyway.

As for the engine, the new model is still using the same 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter engines, these engines can be paired with either a manual or CVT transmission.
