Toyota Motor Philippines has officially launched the newest additions to its TOYOTA GAZOO Racing lineup, the Hilux GR-S and Fortuner GR-S. These upgraded models are equipped with a sportier interior and exterior that are sure to level up the everyday driving experience.

As you might already know, every GR-S model is developed by the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, hence the name “Gazoo Racing Sport.” By now, it is plain to see that the GR-S variants are not only for racing or motorsports fans. It is also for regular individuals who want sportiness in their everyday drive. 

The new Hilux GR-S and Fortuner GR-S will not disappoint with all its upgrades from the regular trim. The result is not only better-looking models, but also better performing vehicles for everyday use.

Starting with the exterior, the Fortuner GR-S comes with a redesigned front and rear bumper, fog lamp garnish, body-color arch mold, back door garnish, bi-tone rear spoiler, GR Brake Calipers (Front & Rear), and black-tinted clear coating on 18” alloy wheels with machine cut finish. On the other hand, the Hilux GR-S comes with a black gloss G-MESH front grille design with TOYOTA emblem across the model’s front, body-color over-fenders sports bar in gloss black, fin-type antenna, GR Brake Caliper (Front), and black-tinted clear coating on 18” alloy wheels with machine cut finish.

As for the interior, they are basically the same except that the Fortuner GR-S has matte carbon trims on the center cluster and the Hilux GR-S has paddle shifters and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. They both have a leather steering wheel, aluminum pedals, 8-Way Power Adjust seats dual-zone A/C, Panoramic View Monitor, and sport-type front seats with suede and leather material and red stitching.

Performance-wise,  both models are using the 2.8-liter turbo diesel capable of producing 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Transmission is a six-speed automatic and the drivetrain is 4×4. Of course, they cannot just put on a GR badge and call it a day. Both models are equipped with mechanical improvements. The suspension setup is bolstered with KYB monotube shock absorbers to further improve the double-wishbone setup at the front and the leaf spring rigid axle at the back.  In addition, the disc brakes are upgraded with GR calipers.

Safety is better on the Fortuner GR-S as it comes with Toyota Safety Sense. It has PreCollision System, Lane Departure Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

The Hilux GR-S has a price of Php 1,985,000, while the Fortuner GR-S has a price of Php 2,509,000. The Hilux GR Sport is available in three colors: Attitude Black Mica, Super White, and Emotional Red, while the Fortuner GR Sport comes only in White Pearl Crystal Shine with an Attitude Black Mica roof.
