Xiaomi Accidentally Leaks Latest Budget Redmi Pad: Sulit Ba Siya?

The latest budget tablet offering from Xiaomi is bound to release this October. Based on rumors and now official-looking leaks, it’s going to be called the Redmi Pad. Here’s the lowdown on this tablet and what it has to offer.

The photo you can see at the top is something accidentally posted by Xiaomi Kuwait. Of course, the moment the PR team realized their mistake, the post went down as quickly as you could say “bye.” Based on the image though, we can see a Mint Green color with a single gigantic camera lens facing the rear. There are claims that this is a 8-megapixel shooter since cameras on tablets, particularly ones within the budget segment, aren’t expected to be of the highest quality anyways. As long as they can take snapshots and are usable for video calls, then that’s perfectly fine.

Reportedly under the hood is a MediaTek MT8781 chipset with two Cortex A76 cores, six Cortex A55 cores, and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The use of A76 here is acceptable since it was considered a flagship component in the past, and is also rumored to be part of the upcoming Google Tensor G2 chipset. This is supplemented by either 3 or 4GB of RAM, with 64 or 128GB of storage. Those are fair numbers for a value-priced device.

Rumored specifications include a 11.2-inch LCD panel with a 2K resolution for content consumption. Colors may be accurate and well-represented but of course it would be best to temper expectations, especially against AMOLED panels. Quad speakers may also be present alongside a meaty 7,800 mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging, and either WiFi or LTE connectivity. It will likely run on some iteration of MIUI Pad 13, based on Android 12.

Pricing at the moment for the Redmi Pad is estimated to be in the $233 (approx PHP 13,369) range for the WiFi model. That’s within the same realm as the realme Pad we reviewed before, so that would make for a great comparison point.
