Xiaomi Officially Unveils Android Go-Powered Redmi Go

It is the brand’s first foray with Android Go devices

While everyone is waiting for the Philippines launch of the Redmi Note 7, Mi Philippines officially unveiled the first Redmi phone with Android Go.

Called the Redmi Go, the Android Go-powered device bears similarities with the Redmi 5A for the front panel. It is different from the hit Xiaomi budget phone device as the Redmi Go has a smooth polycarbonate back panel.

Going through the spec sheet, the Redmi Go and Redmi 5A have almost the same set of specs, except that the former comes with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, a lower-resolution 8-megapixel rear camera, and Android Oreo (Go Edition) out of the box.

Redmi Go specs

  • 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 Quad-Core Processor
  • Adreno 308 GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD
  • 5.0-inch HD IPS display
  • 8-megapixel f/2.2 rear camera and LED flash
  • 5-megapixel, f/2.0 front camera
  • Dual-SIM, 4G LTE
  • WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1
  • GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS
  • Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition)
  • 3000mAh battery

Mi Philippines did not disclose the official price of the Redmi Go as of this writing. Given the pricing of the Redmi 5A, we expect the Redmi Go to have a sub-Php 4k price.
