After previewing the Claw 8 AI+ at COMPUTEX 2024, MSI unveiled the Claw A8 at COMPUTEX 2025 as its first gaming handheld that uses an AMD chip instead of Intel. This time, you’re getting a Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, 24GB DDR5 RAM, and a loud Lime Green colorway.
While it has less RAM than the Claw 8 AI+, the Claw A8 has the same 8-inch Full HD display with a 120hz refresh rate, the same 1TB SSD, and what we presume is the same 80wHr battery.
Aside from the Claw A8, the Claw 8 AI+ gets a Polar Tempest Edition that uses a Core Ultra 7 258V processor, an upgraded 2TB NVMe SSD and a new white finish with a glittering UV coating. Other than those changes, it is almost identical to the regular Claw 8 AI+.
MSI has yet to reveal the pricing for both models, but the Claw 8 AI+ is priced at Php 59,995 in the Philippines. The Legion Go S, which uses a Ryzen Z2 Go chip, is priced at Php 44,995 locally so we speculate the MSI Claw A8 to be priced at around Php 50 to 55k, while the Claw 8 AI+ Polar Tempest Edition might be priced close to Php 65k given the bigger SSD storage.
