In case you plan to buy a PlayStation 5 anytime soon in the Philippines, here’s an update: recently, Acer Global Merchandise announced that they will be the sole distributor partner of Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore in the Philippines.
What does this mean? Essentially, Acer Global Merchandise is in charge of distributing PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation accessories, and official game software to retail channels in the Philippines. With this announcement, we think that the stocks on the PlayStation 5 should be better compared to what we saw during the early months of its official sale back in 2020.
“PlayStation is already a very popular gaming platform in the Philippines and we’re very happy to grow the market further,” AGM Business Operations Manager Anjelo Paguntalan said.
To those not familiar with AGM, it is a distribution business of Acer that started its service back in July 2020. It’s main service is to provide “a professional execution of game distribution” across all platforms like Consoles, PCs, and Mobile. With their partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore, this should address the PlayStation 5 supply problems and mitigate possible issues of backdooring units or official local units being scalped for a higher price.
“The public can be assured that what AGM will bring to this partnership is the same level of excellence that Acer is known for,” AGM Board Director Sue Ong Lim said.
