Together with the 2022 iPhone SE, the new iPad Air has been unveiled today. The new iPad Air comes with an M1 chip, ultra-fast 5G, and a new front camera with Center Stage.
Just like the iPhone SE, the headline feature of the new iPad Air is its processor. It comes with Apple’s M1 which is also present in the more expensive iPad Pro models.
Aside from the beefy processor, the new iPad Air also features a new ultrawide front camera with Center Stage. This allows automatic panning during video calls to keep you in view as you move around. It can also detect additional subjects, automatically zooming out to include them in the video.
Moreover, the USB-C port is now two times faster. It is capable of transferring data up to 10Gbps. The new iPad Air also has landscape stereo speakers and Touch ID built into the home button.
Another notable addition is the Universal Control feature. It basically allows you to work using a single mouse and keyboard across multiple Macs and iPads in a seamless fashion without needing to set up anything. With this feature, you can even drag and drop content back and forth between devices.
As for the 12MP main camera at the back, it remains unchanged, as well as the 10.9″ Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of brightness, True Tone support, and an anti-reflective coating.
Having said all these specs, the new iPad Air sits nicely between the cheap iPad and the expensive iPad Pro models. It comes with just the essentials you need in an iPad while maintaining a sweet price.
