ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16: Made for Both Work and Play

These days, more and more content creators are into gaming as part of their past time when they are not working. Because of that, they would opt to get a gaming laptop to suit both their gaming and content creator needs.

Designing a gaming laptop that balances work and play is a challenge, and ASUS nails it with the ROG Zephyrus M16. Being its latest all-around gaming laptop, we round up the top 5 things that make the ROG Zephyrus M16 a great laptop for both work and play:

Top-tier specs. ASUS wants only the best for its customers, and the Zephyrus M16 has that covered. Being a beast of a laptop, the Zephyrus M16 is powered by up to an Intel Core i9-11900H processor that is paired with up to an RTX 3070 laptop GPU, up to 32GB DDR4 RAM (that is expandable to up to 48GB), and up to a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD drive.

With those specs, the Zephyrus M16 can handle practically any task you throw at it, be it the AAA games or heavy 4K video editing, that is not going to be a problem for it-and these numbers prove so.

Insanely fast SSD. The latest Intel processors support the latest PCIe 4.0 interface, which translates to the Zephyrus M16 being able to use the fastest possible SSD drives to make workflows fast and efficient.

How fast, you may ask? With CrystalDisk, we got read speeds of over 7GBps and write speeds of over 5GBps. Those numbers are incredible and show that the Zephyrus M16’s SSD is more than twice (dare we say close to 3x) as fast as SSDs used on laptops using the PCIe 3.0 interface.

Very versatile display and speakers. Beyond the beastly specs, the Zephyrus M16 stands out for its display and speaker system. The former is backed by a 16-inch 16:10 WQHD display with a fast 165hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. Aside from having the right set of specs for gaming, the Zephyrus M16’s panel is also Pantone validated, covering 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. That makes it also a great laptop to use for serious multimedia work where color accuracy is crucial.

As an all-around multimedia machine, the Zephyrus M16 has arguably the best speaker system for its class. Its six-speaker system consists of two tweeters and dual force-canceling woofers, giving you that immersive sound experience for both when playing games, watching videos, or ensuring that your audio is right with your video projects. They also boast Dolby Atmos and support Hi-Res audio–the latter letting you enjoy lossless music at their full potential.

Right set of ports. Connectivity is important for a laptop that is geared towards productivity work, and the Zephyrus M16 definitely delivers on that. With its large chassis, you get a comprehensive set of ports that include two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, MicroSD 4.0 slot, combo headphone jack, Ethernet port, HDMI 2.0, AC-in port, and two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports.

The Zephyrus M16’s Thunderbolt 4 ports are very versatile. Aside from utilizing the latest Thunderbolt protocol, they also support USB-PD at up to 100w so that you can leave the Zephyrus M16’s 230w charging brick at home and bring the included 100w USB-C charger instead. Both USB-C ports also support DisplayPort 1.4, letting you connect a monitor with up to a 4K resolution at 144hz (or 1440p at 240hz).

Subtle Design. Admit it–not everyone is a fan of the over-the-top aesthetics of most gaming notebooks in the market. With that in mind, ASUS made the ROG Zephyrus M16 look as subtle as possible while keeping a hint of its gamer DNA.

You get an Off-Black (or white) finish throughout the laptop, with a small ROG branding on the bottom part of the top lid. You still get that ROG DNA going with that prismatic layer that shines when light hits it. That particular design on the lid is so subtle, you can easily use the Zephyrus M16 in the office and during meetings without drawing a lot of attention.
