At Last! Starlink Now Officially Available in the Philippines

It looks like Data Lake stayed true to its word of making Starlink available in the Philippines by March 2023, as SpaceX announced that Starlink is officially available for residents in the Philippines.

Depending on your address in the Philippines, you can reserve your own Starlink service through their portal. While it is still expensive at Php 2,700/month (plus Php 29,320 for the Starlink Kit that comprises of a router and satellite dish), the official pricing in the Philippines is lower than what was initially expected.

Compared to US pricing, Starlink costs $99/month or around Php 5.5k/month, while the Starlink kit costs $599 or around Php 33,200. It seems that Starlink implemented regional pricing, as SpaceX factored in things like the Peso-to-US Dollar exchange rate and the general buying power of Filipinos to make their rates in the Philippines lower.

With its current plan offering in the Philippines, Starlink promises a no-contract service that has a low-latency internet connection and download speeds as high as 200Mbps. While Filipinos who can afford the steep prices can reserve their own Starlink service, the DICT is working towards providing free internet connection to remote areas in the Philippines using Starlink’s services as part of their Broadband ng Masa project.
