Crazy COOL: OnePlus 11 Concept Hands-On, First Impressions

We finally got the hyped OnePlus 11 Concept in our hands at the brand’s latest event. It’s a souped-up version of the base OP11, which is already an amazing smartphone by itself. This one borrows some themes from high-end gaming PCs and makes it available for hardcore users. This doesn’t just look the part – it plays it well too.

Why? Why NOT?

Some may be confused as to the reason why a special hardcore version was even made in the first place. Well, the OnePlus 11 5G was able to achieve a 173% increase in terms of sales volume. This is a testament to the popularity of the device.

Based on this, we can hypothesize that the OnePlus 11 Concept was constructed to show the world how the smartphone would be if the brand decided to go all-out on it. Also, it could be a sign of things to come in the future.

What things to come?

Active Cryoflux Technology is COOL

And it’s “cool” in both senses of the word.

The first reason is that the device literally keeps itself cool in times of high stress, a benefit afforded by Gaming PC-inspired thermodynamic layouts. Industrial-grade ceramic piezoelectric micropumps are located within the center of the device’s chassis. These minuscule pumps work consistently to circulate cooling liquids within the device’s pipelines without significant additional weight.

It actually works in the real world. OnePlus has advertised a temperature reduction of up to 2.1 degrees Celsius. This allows the device to work more efficiently with less risk for throttling and other heat-related issues. As per the brand, it can even add 3-4FPS to your gaming experience. The more, the smoother!

When it comes to charging, another heat-producing activity; temps can be lowered by up to 1.6 degrees Celsius which shortens the overall charging time by 30-45 seconds. This may come in handy in tight situations where time is of the essence.

Does it look the part?

Yes, this alien technology is also well-represented in the OnePlus 11 Concept and its futuristic design. The brand has installed a clear rear cover so users can witness the illuminated liquid flowing through the thermal-cooling pipelines. The coating on the liquid allows it to light up through the case using an electric field, effectively hosting a miniature light show for the spectators outside.

Even the camera lens is surrounded by this exotic treatment. OnePlus claims that “Guilloche” etching was used here, a method that carefully engraves fine, specific patterns into the design.

The CryoFlux liquid also surrounds the camera module like a moat – turning the entire thing into a halo of some sort. It’s an attractive design that’s worthy of “Concept” status, although we can’t comment on the longevity of the liquid illumination.

What else does the OnePlus 11 Concept deliver?

The OnePlus 11 Concept, as well as the retail version, support ray-tracing since they use the same flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This was demonstrated through the demanding open-world game Tower of Fantasy wherein the OnePlus devices can activate ray tracing. Activating the feature makes the game doubly challenging to run, but the brand is confident that their smartphones can carry the load well.

Also, the concept and retail devices are compatible with Snapdragon Spaces. This is the perfect transition to head-worn Augmented Reality and an amazing leap for the tech moving forward.

There is no indication that this OnePlus 11 Concept will ever go on sale. However, the brand is offering a detachable 45W Liquid Cooler for the OnePlus 11 5G. It more or less fills out the “function” part of what the CryoFlux system does on the Concept.
