DITO Gives Away 1GB Data to Celebrate 1 Million Subscribers

As it has teased and promised during its Independence Day Kapihan, third telco DITO prepared a thank you gift to its first 1 million subscribers in the form of a free 1GB all-access data that is valid for 7 days.

Accessible via the DITO app, pioneer subscribers—meaning the telco’s first 1 million subscribers—are eligible to this offer. Subscribers do not need to claim the free data pack immediately, as they have until July 31 to claim this promo.

Aside from the 1GB free data, DITO also announced that it is extending the DITO 99 data pack promo to June 30, giving subscribers more time to avail of this 10GB data pack.

With DITO hitting the 1 million subscribers milestone, the country’s third telco is doing relatively good since it only commenced commercial operations last March. While it has its fair share of problems—these include limited supported handsets, spotty network coverage in certain areas, and limited data pack offerings, DITO is working hard to catch up with big telco players like Globe and Smart.

Based on our speed tests in different areas around Metro Manila, DITO’s LTE network can go as fast as almost 90mbps in download speeds—if your area is well-covered by their services. DITO acknowledges the current limitations in terms of coverage. That being said, they committed to hitting 51% nationwide coverage by July 8 in time for their second technical audit. From their latest update, DITO added 23 more areas covered by their network. These include:

  • Dagupan City and Manaoag in Pangasinan
  • Magalang in Pampanga
  • Pandi in Bulacan
  • La Paz Tarlac
  • Calauan and Victoria Laguna
  • Taysan and Balete in Batangas
  • Bacolod City and Pulupandan Negros Occidental
  • Moalboal, Bogo, San Remigio, Sogod, Alcantara, Santander, Ginatilan in Cebu
  • Kidapawan City and Makilala in North Cotabato
  • Santa Cruz and Bansalan in Davao del Sur
  • Malybalay City in Bukidnon

Aside from expanding its network coverage, DITO is also working towards bringing 5G services as well. Recently, DITO has tapped Nokia as its network partner for its upcoming 5G services.
