OnePlus 10 Pro Breaks in Half in Durability Test

While we’re just two months into 2022, there’s already a phone that failed badly in JerryRigEverything’s bend test. In the durability test of the OnePlus 10 Pro, a phone that’s currently only available in China, the phone’s back panel cracked when it was subjected to a bend test, and folded in half when it was bent the other way around–destroying the curved OLED panel in the process.

The catastrophic failure of the OnePlus 10 Pro in JerryRig’s durability test, despite having Gorilla Glass, an aluminum frame, and a matte-finished back panel is blamed on how the phone was designed.

With the majority of the crack appearing right below the large, stovetop-inspired camera module, the part of the frame where it snapped in half lacked any support, making its overall structural integrity weak. It also does not help that the volume controls were placed right where the OnePlus 10 Pro’s weak point is.

The OnePlus 10 Pro’s failure to pass the durability test is an insult to the brand–especially when foldable phones like the Find N and Galaxy Z Fold3 survived the strenuous test. The OnePlus 10 Pro is not alone, however: gaming phones like the Legion  Phone Duel 2 and ROG Phone 5 also snapped in half due to a similar structural integrity issue.
