Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Allegedly Looks Exactly Like The S22 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is touted to be the tip of the mountain when it comes to flagship Samsung devices, as per usual with the lineup. That’s why we see radical design changes every year, as the device is meant to represent the brand’s cutting-edge technology apart from the foldables. A prime example of that is the inclusion of the S Pen in models after the beloved Note series was discontinued. This time around though, it appears that the Galaxy S23 Ultra might just look almost exactly like its predecessor. Is this the application of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it?”

These rumors come from reputable tech leakster Universe Ice over his Twitter account. With over 300,000 followers to his name, many people trust his word for the latest in tech content even before these are officially released to the public.

One of the biggest revelations on his profile is that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will share the same camera design as the S22 Ultra. This is huge news considering that the S20, S21, and S22 Ultra all look drastically different from behind. It appears as though Samsung has settled with this design, and many responses are positive. This just goes to show that the design works. Of course, the sensors themselves are likely to get upgrades over the previous model.

He then goes on to explain that the two are nearly identical, save for a very minute size increase.

His claims of having the “smallest appearance change” in Samsung history are quite a revelation, considering the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7 were also called out for the same thing. On the inside, we’re expecting flagship processors once again. There’s almost a zero chance of the Galaxy S23 Ultra not sheltering a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (or whatever the upcoming chipset is called) when it comes out.

Ever since curves made their way onto Samsung Galaxy devices in the Note Edge, they’ve been an industry trend that is hit-or-miss with a lot of people. Now, in 2022, a lot actually prefer simple flat displays over the aesthetic complication of a curved edge – mainly for ergonomic reasons (and so that their screen protectors stay on). If the Galaxy S23 Ultra treads this route, then we can expect a higher degree of market acceptance.

Here’s a shocker that’s even more difficult to believe: the S23 and S23+ will be exactly like their predecessors, save for the processor. If this is true, this provides no incentive for users of the current devices to upgrade whatsoever, save for the clout and maybe an extra year of software support. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Exynos 2200 are still modern-day monsters, despite their issues.

We’ll have to wait and see if these statements will hold up when the phones are officially unveiled.
