What’s New with the Sony Xperia 10 IV?

While Sony introduced groundbreaking new tech with the Xperia 1 IV, the brand decided to give the mid-range Xperia 10 IV a more incremental upgrade. Compared to last year’s Xperia 10 III, the Xperia 10 IV is slightly shorter and narrower–but Sony managed to fit in a 5000mAh battery inside despite the smaller footprint.

Other improvements include the use of a Snapdragon 695 processor, Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and the addition of OIS on the main camera. However, the Xperia 10 IV is limited to Full HD video recording due to the limitations of the Snapdragon 695.

Sony Xperia 10 IV specs:

  • Snapdragon 695 processor
  • 6GB LPDDR4X RAM
  • 128GB UFS 2.1 storage
  • 6.0-inch Full HD+ OLED display, 120hz touch sampling, 21:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 support, Gorilla Glass 6, 97% DCI-P3, 10-bit color
  • 12-megapixel f/1.8 main camera with PDAF and OIS, 8-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera, 8-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom
  • 8-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera
  • 4G, 5G
  • WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1
  • IP65/68, LDAC, Side-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • 5000mAh battery
  • 30w USB-PD charging
  • Android 12

The Xperia 10 IV is priced at 499 Euros(~Php 27.6k) and will be available starting June in Europe. While the Xperia 1 IV’s steep pricing is justifiable with its new camera tech, it’s hard to justify the equally steep price of the Xperia 10 IV especially if you have premium mid-range phones like the Galaxy A73 that has a bigger 120hz AMOLED display and a vastly better set of internals at roughly the same price.
