The midrange segment is getting more competitive than ever, and the under Php 25k segment aims to emphasize on having great cameras. This is what both the HONOR 200 and OPPO Reno12 have to offer, both being solid models for their price tag.

HONOR 200 vs OPPO Reno12: Design

Both phones feature a plastic frame and a matte glass back, and both phones shine with their unique finish. Both come with an in-display fingerprint scanner and an IR remote, but the Reno12 adds an IP65 rating–something that the HONOR 200 lacks.

Both phones have a premium look, but the HONOR 200’s camera module stands out better for its asymmetrical look and chrome accents that can generate a conversation.

Both phones feature 120hz AMOLED displays, with the HONOR 200 opting for a micro-curve design and the Reno12 Pro having a more conventional curved design. Both displays have a great peak brightness range for outdoor use, along with those vibrant colors and deep blacks we love.

The HONOR 200’s display may have a higher resolution, but the Reno12 uses a more durable Gorilla Glass 7i to protect the display. With the display curves, it’s all a matter of preference but the HONOR 200’s micro-curved approach makes it easier to find a screen protector and is less prone to accidental touches compared to conventional curved displays.

When it comes to audio, both phones are even with their stereo speaker setup that have a sound stage that’s typical of what we expect on a midrange phone.

 

HONOR 200 vs OPPO Reno12: Cameras

Both phones boast 50-megapixel cameras with OIS, but use different sensors. The HONOR 200 uses a 1/1.56-inch IMX 856, while the Reno12 uses a 1/1.95-inch LYT 600. Despite the different sensor size, both produced great shots in most lighting conditions–though the Reno12 has a slight advantage with its brighter aperture opening.

In terms of flexibility, the HONOR 200 takes the crown with its 50-megapixel telephoto shooter with OIS and 2.5x optical zoom and a higher-resolution 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera. Aside from a more complete camera setup, all three rear cameras of the HONOR 200 can shoot 4K video, making it a great midrange phone for content creation.

Moving to selfie cameras, both are capable of shooting 4K videos and have their respective strengths: the HONOR 200 uses a higher resolution 50-megapixel sensor, while the Reno12’s 32-megapixel selfie shooter has autofocus to keep your selfies looking sharp.

Both phones are competitive with the processing package they have to offer: Dimensity 7300 on the Reno12 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for the HONOR 200. Looking at benchmark numbers, the HONOR 200 gave us better numbers–showing that the Snapdragon chip offers more muscle.

When it comes to gaming, both phones are capable of running the latest mobile titles at high graphics and beyond 30FPS, making them usable for long gaming sessions.

Both phones come with 12GB RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, but the HONOR 200 has more storage to offer at 512GB. You also get dual SIM for both phones, but the HONOR 200 adds support for eSIM as well.

The HONOR 200 also has an advantage with battery and charging speeds, as it features a next-generation 5200mAh Silicon-Carbon cell and support for 100w wired charging.

While both come with Android 14 out of the box, the Reno12 has the upper hand with its software thanks to its suite of AI features that help improve the overall user experience. HONOR is catching up: recently it rolled out AI Eraser on the HONOR 200, and our initial tests reveal that it can rival the Reno12’s AI Eraser 2.0 in terms of generative AI accuracy and processing time. When it comes to software updates, both the HONOR 200 and Reno12 come with 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates.

What makes this comparo very interesting is that both the HONOR 200 and Reno12 are priced at under Php 25k. Looking at it as a whole, both phones have their respective strengths: the HONOR 200 reigns when it comes to overall hardware, and it is catching up nicely with the Reno12 with its suite of AI features. Regardless of which phone you choose, both are solid picks at the Php 25k price point.
