How to Apply for a Digital National ID

While there are Filipinos (me included) that are frustrated of not receiving the physical copy of their National ID, there’s a digital version that is also considered as a valid ID. Unveiled last year, it is described as “easily accessible through computers or smartphones with an internet connection.” The DICT adds that the Digital National ID is “a valid proof of identification and age that can be presented in any government or private transactions.” These also include financial transactions as well.

How to Get Your Digital National ID

    1. Download the eGovPH app. With the latest process of getting your National ID, everything is done through the eGovPH app, so it’s a must to make an account.
    2. Create an account.
    3. Input your personal information. Aside from your name and date of birth, you may need to input other details like your address, blood type, place of birth, marital status, and gender. If you prevously applied for a National ID, make sure to know your Application Reference Number (ARN) to save you time from inputting your personal information again.
    4. Begin live selfie authentication. This is part of the eGovPH’s KYC process to ensure the authentication of all the information you provided. This is also needed to verify the photo you submitted in applying for a National ID.
    5. Receive confirmation. Once confirmed, you now have access to your National ID via the eGovPH app.
