With displays, we would question brands that go beyond 120hz refresh rate in phones since there are no mobile games that actually go beyond 120fps. The same applies for tablets, and we’re wondering why HONOR decided to put a large 144hz panel on the Pad V8 Pro.
The panel in question is one of the biggest that HONOR has placed on a tablet at 12.1-inches, and its use of a Dimensity 8100 processor (which is proven to be powerful) makes the Pad V8 Pro a more affordable alternative to the 12-inch iPad Pro. Being a productivity-focused tablet, accessories include a stylus and a magnetic keyboard–though the latter is not as fancy as Apple’s Magic Keyboards for its iPads.
Running through the specs of this huge tablet, the Pad V8 Pro has a gigantic 10550mAh battery that supports 35w charging, along with an immersive 8-speaker system that supports DTS:X. Speaking of multimedia, the Pad V8 Pro is a rare offering that’s IMAX certified.
The rear camera module reminds us of the HONOR 70, but it only contains a basic 13-megapixel shooter–after all, you would not take photos with this huge tablet always.

The Pad V8 Pro starts at CNY 2599(~Php 20.7k) for the 8GB/128GB variant and goes up to CNY 3299(~Php 26.3k) for the 12GB/256GB variant. It will go on sale in China on December 30, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will be available globally–including in the Philippines. HONOR does have the Pad 8 in the Philippines, so the Pad V8 Pro might have a chance to be made available locally.
