The drought for new iPads is over: Apple is updating the iPad Air for 2024 with the 6th generation model, adding a 13-inch variant for those who prefer a bigger screen estate.
While it looks similar to the 5th generation iPad Air from 2022, some of the key changes involve the landscape-first orientation with the 12-megapixel camera now in a landscape orientation. The same goes for the stereo speakers, with the 13-inch model benefitting from better bass with its physically bigger body.
The 2024 iPad Air is now powered by an M2 processor, which is 3x more powerful than the M1. Like recent trends, the M2 chip works great with AI tasks. Other features include storage options that start at 128GB and cap off at 1TB for those who need a lot of storage. The same 12-megapixel rear camera, along with TouchID and support for WiFi 6E. You can get a variant with 5G connectivity and supports Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.
The 2024 iPad Air starts at Php 42,990 for the 11-inch model and Php 54,990 for the 13-inch model. There are four color options, which appear to be more muted compared to the previous generation. Expect local retailers like Beyond the Box and Power Mac Center to have them available soon.
