While Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi Note 14 Pro and Xiaomi 15 series later this year, it seems that 2025 will be a big year for the brand when it comes to innovation.
The first big innovation Xiaomi is expected to announce is their long-awaited in-house processor–the successor to the Surge S1 that was announced back in 2017. Having their own processor would mean lower production costs for Xiaomi since they can be less reliant on the likes of Qualcomm and MediaTek, allowing them to focus more on other components.

According to rumors, the upcoming Xiaomi processor will make use of TSMC’s 4mm N4p process and is expected to be at par with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It may be behind the upcoming Snapdragon Gen 4, but it will nonetheless be powerful enough for at least flagship killer offerings.

Then there’s the rumors that Xiaomi wants to rival Huawei in launching their own tri-fold phone. While Huawei is expected to unveil their tri-folding phone next month, Xiaomi will reportedly unveil their own tri-fold phone at MWC 2025–perhaps together with the global unveiling of the Xiaomi 15 series.

The last one has to be the most bizarre, as Xiaomi will reportedly explore the thought of a button-less phone, something that Meizu and vivo showcased in the past (but never made it to commercial production). Considering both concepts ended up as flops, it puzzles us why Xiaomi is looking to work on a button-less phone that’s expected to launch by the first half of 2025.
Not much is known about Xiaomi’s button-less phone, but we expect it to use capacitive buttons, an under-display camera, and a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 processor.
