AMD Unveils Radeon RX6000M Series of Mobile GPUs

AMD expands its portfolio of chips, this time introducing the next-gen Radeon GPUs to gaming laptops with the Radeon RX6000M Series. Comprising of the RX6600M, RX6700M, and RX6800M, all three mobile GPUs are based on AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture, which promises up to 1.5x better performance and up to 43% better power efficiency compared to the previous-gen RDNA architecture.

Leading the pack is the RX6800M, which has 12GB GDDR6 RAM aims to offer 1440p gaming at 120FPS with a blend of ray tracing, compute, and traditional effects for the best possible gaming visuals. The mid-end RX6700M, on the other hand, comes with 10GB GDDR6 RAM and aims to offer 1440p gaming at up to 100FPS, while the entry-level RX6600M has 8GB GDDR6 RAM and aims to deliver Full HD gaming at 100FPS.

Key features found on the Radeon RX6000M series include AMD’s trademark Infinity Cache (up to 96MB for the RX6800M), Smart Access Memory, SmartShift for increased gaming performance, Radeon Chill for improved power management, and FidelityFX Super Resolution for improved game visuals with minimal performance overhead.

As part of AMD’s Advantage Design Framework, which consists of laptops with Radeon RX6000M GPUs, Ryzen 5000 Mobile processors, and AMD-exclusive tech, ASUS and HP will be one of the first gaming laptops to have RX6000M GPUs. The ASUS ROG Strix G15/G17 will come with RX6800M GPUs and up to Ryzen 9 5900HX processors and will b available in early June.

On the other hand, HP’s OMEN 16 will have a Radeon RX6600M GPU and up to Ryzen 9 5900HX processors, and will be available soon. Aside from ASUS and HP, Lenovo and MSI will be launching gaming laptops that will comply with AMD Advantage.

In a nutshell, AMD Advantage laptops aim to offer 100FPS gaming, at least 10 hours battery life with video playback, bright 144hz displays and custom-designed thermals–all in a sleek package.
