Expecting Android Oreo to arrive in your Samsung handset before this year is out? Well, we have some bad news for you. Samsung Turkey has officially announced that Android 8.0 Oreo will be arriving in phones by the beginning of 2018.
Aside from that though, Samsung Turkey did not give out any other specifics on the date of Android update, or even a specific list of phones that will get the update first. You can expect though that the company’s new flagships, the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 will get first dibs on the update when it arrives at the beginning of next year.
Samsung’s Oreo update schedule isn’t surprising – it also rolled out its Nougat update for devices at the start of this year too, which included quite a number of phones and tablets from a large swath of Samsung’s lineup. If you really, really want to get your hands on a device running Android Oreo this holiday season, it looks like you’ll have to settle with Google’s Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL and Huawei’s Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro when they become available in the next few weeks.
