The Apple AirPods 4 Has ANC And Hearing Protection

If you were disappointed with the mid AirPods Max, Apple did roll out something new for its AirPods line tonight. The new AirPods 4 comes in two variants: a model that has ANC and one that doesn’t. Obviously the ANC variant is more expensive, coming in at Php 11,490, with the base variant priced at a much lower Php 8,490. Both will be dropping in the US come September 20.

Apple is calling the new AirPods “the most comfortable AirPods ever”, and sticks with the company’s open-fit design that many of its competitors have tried to copy. The new model now gets personalized spatial audio thanks to Apple’s new H2 chip, as well as voice isolation and gesture-based Siri controls. The new AirPods can detect if you nod or shake your head when Siri asks you a question, for example, which should make voice commands easier to navigate through.

Just like the AirPods Max, the AirPods 4 also gets Type-C charging (good riddance, Lighting cables), with the ANC variant getting wireless charging options as well via Magsafe. There’s other reasons to get the ANC variant as well: aside from having Active Noise Cancellation, it’ll also get Transparency Mode, and Adaptive Audio which automatically adjusts the audio levels of everything around you so you’re still able to listen to your music and be aware enough of the cars on the street so you don’t get pancaked.

Both the case and the buds are IP54 rated, so they can take the occasional rain shower or sweat no problem–just make sure that you don’t drop them in the pool. As for battery life, Apple is promising up to 30 hours worth of juice on a single charge.
