Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro Gets an All-New Keyboard

Goodbye butterfly mechanism, hello “Magic” Keyboard

With much anticipation, Apple officially unveiled its all-new 16-inch MacBook. The new notebook, which aims to replace the current 15-inch MacBook Pro, sports a new design with thinner bezels to accommodate a bigger 16-inch panel while maintaining the old 15-inch Retina MacBook’s footprint.

The MacBook Pro 16-inch has a thicker body, and for a good reason: inside, you get a humongous 100wHr battery, six-speaker system, better thermal management, and an all-new keyboard that is called Magic Keyboard.

The new keyboard uses a refined scissor mechanism that has 1mm of key travel and an Apple-designed rubber dome for better key responsiveness. The new keyboard also brings back a physical Escape key, a redesigned Touch Bar, and an inverted T arrangement for the arrow keys.

Apple touts the MacBook Pro 16-inch as its most powerful notebook to date with configuration options that include up to an 8-core Core i9 processor, up to 8TB of internal storage (the biggest ever in a laptop), up to 64GB RAM, and AMD Radeon Pro 5000M series discrete GPUs.

The MacBook Pro 16-inch starts at Php 141,990 and should be available in the Philippines soon. The entry-level configuration gets you a 6-core, 2.6Ghz Core i7 processor, AMD Radeon Pro 5300M GPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and 512GB SSD storage.
