ASUS’ Project Precog Notebook Has Two Displays And Is AI-powered

The notebook of the future, today

ASUS always has a surprise concept product that they show off during COMPUTEX, and this year is no exception. With AI and machine learning steadily creeping into our search engines and smartphones, it was only fit for the Taiwanese company to launch a notebook that leverages on the tech. Project Precog is an AI-powered notebook that doesn’t have a keyboard. Instead, the notebook has two 13-inch touchscreen displays, and relies heavily on machine learning to work with you to accomplish your tasks.

The notebook, which is hitting the market in 2019, looks vaguely like Lenovo’s 2016 Yoga Book that doesn’t have a physical keyboard. But it’s a passing resemblance, as Project Precog’s lower display automatically transforms into a keyboard when it senses a mouse or your hands are near, and disappears when it’s not needed. It automatically detects where your hands are placed above the chassis and shifts the keys depending on your typing style, and has face and object recognition.

AI tech is also touted to extend the notebook’s battery life, as ASUS says the notebook learns your schedule and works around it. ASUS didn’t provide a full spec list for the notebook, but at this point that’s to be expected. Concept devices are subject to change, and Project Precog might be getting a few revisions until it’s officially released next year.
