If you’ve always wanted your own gaming ROG gaming phone but couldn’t pony up the price for the brand’s latest flagship, the ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE might be for you. This variant of ASUS’ latest gaming phone just dropped in Thailand, with a retail price of THB 29,990, or around Php 51.6K.
The main difference here is the chipset – ASUS opted to go with last year’s flagship silicon, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor for the ROG Phone 9 FE, along with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. It has the same styling of the ROG Phone 9 family of course,6.78-inch 1080×2400 LTPO AMOLED touchscreen with 2,500-nit peak brightness protected by Gorilla Glass 2 Victus.
The rear optics is slightly different, with the phone sporting a 50 MP main snapper with Sony’s IMX890 1/1.56″ type sensor with gimbal OIS, a 13 MP ultrawide with 120° field-of-view, and a 5 MP macro camera.
The phone might seem downgraded from its more expensive brothers, but the changes that ASUS made here are pretty reasonable if you’re looking to get a phone for gaming. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is plenty fast, and most people who are in the market for a gaming phone won’t necessarily mind if they get a slightly less capable set of camera optics.
No word yet if this phone will be offered in the Philippine market, but seeing it just popped up in Thailand, it’s a fair bet that it will.
