Full Steam ahead for ASUS
Aside from their extremely thin and light GX500 ultrabook, ASUS also unveiled two new gaming desktops. The two desktops are small, compact and incredibly powerful and are Steam OS ready. The GX20 is the higher end of the two devices, housing an Intel Core i7 processor and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 graphics card. The design of the GX20 is a departure compared to other, similar desktops as it has no visible exhaust vents. Instead, it takes advantage of natural convection with a thermal design that the company guarantess keeps everything nice and cool while emitting a low amount of noise. The front LEDs of the G20 can also be customized depending on your needs, and even though it’s a literal beast when it comes to gaming, it only consumes a total of 20W.
The GR8 is the smaller brother of the G20 and is designed along the same lines. While it posesses the same processor as the G20, the GR8 uses a NVIDIA GeFore GTX 750Ti graphic card to render games. It’s smaller than the G20 which means it can fit into smaller living rooms and spaces, and has a Miracast receiver, allowing it to stream HD content from other devices straight to your similarly capable TV. Asus says that they will also launch a SteamOS powered GR8 at a later date.
