ASUS Unveils ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ Monitor with 138hz Refresh Rate

ASUS pushes the limits on OLED displays with the unveiling of the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ. This 41.5-inch gaming monitor is capable of up to 138hz refresh rate when overclocked, and is capable of 4K resolution. That by itself is a feat, as most OLED displays would usually cap off at 120hz, and it’s very rare to see a large 4K OLED display go beyond that. It may not be as insane as the 500hz ROG Swift monitor–but then that ultra-fast monitor uses a TN panel.

To make that possible, ASUS designed a custom heatsink for the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ to preserve the OLED panel’s life when running it at high refresh rates. As an OLED panel, you get deep black, high (and even) brightness across the panel, a 0.1ms response tome, Delts E<2 color difference, and 98% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage. All those features do help in helping the PG42UQ have a stellar HDR performance. You also get an anti-glare, micro-texture coating for reducing glare.

To maximize its capabilities, the PG42UQ has a complete set of ports that include DisplayPort 1.4 with Display Stream Compression (DSC), two HDMI 2.1 ports, two HDMI 2.0 ports, four USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a 5-way navigation joystick, a remote controller, and a tripod socket on top of the monitor. The latter is meant for mounting cameras for streaming setups.

As of this writing, ASUS has only confirmed that the ROG Swift OLED PG42UQ will be available in America by late Q3 for $1,399(~Php 78.7k).
