Time to Upgrade Our Monitor!
The last LCD monitor we bought for our home set-up was probably 2-3 years ago when we invested in a Samsung Series 4 24-inch LCD monitor. We’ve been pretty happy with it and didn’t really have a need to buy a new one until it suddenly conked out on us a few weeks ago. We asked several friends in the industry for their recommendations and we also went around the malls looking at our options. One particular item from ASUS caught our attention — the new ASUS VX279 LCD Monitor.
Measuring 27-inches (26.09″ x 17.36″ x 8.27″ w/ stand), the ASUS VX279 looked like the perfect gaming/mini home theater set-up for our home office desk. More than the size what really impressed us was the artistic design. The VX279 sports an elegant sundial design. The base just looks awesome and it’s definitely not your normal generic plain plastic black monitor. Equally impressive is the edge-to-edge near frameless panel with 178 degrees ultra-wide angle viewing (AH-IPS A+ Panel).
At the back we have a full range of I/O: HDMI, MHL, VGA, etc. The box also came with a variety of cables including HDMI-to-DVI, HDMI, VGA, and even an extra audio cable.
In the last few weeks we’ve been using this as our primary monitor for our home work/entertainment office. It’s been a joy just using it from either working on presentations to killing hordes of monsters in Diablo 3 or kicking back and watching the latest episodes of our favorite TV series like Arrow and House of Cards. The color reproduction is just superb and the near-frameless design makes it look like the visuals are just floating in mid-air. The Asus VX279 LCD Monitor is now available in malls. SRP is somewhere around Php18,000 (forgot the exact amount, will update this when I confirm with ASUS PH). If you’re in the market for a premium monitor then you definitely should include this one in your list!
