… ASUS PH Needs to Stick to Them as Close as Possible
The ASUS Zenfone 4 line-up pricing has been leaked out today via several Chinese websites. As we expected the pricing is a bit consistent with the pricing of the ASUS Zefone 3 line-up from last year. If you directly convert to USD or Philippine Pesos, the prices are competitive given the specifications, most especially the rear dual-camera set-up, and the build of the devices.

Here’s a quick rundown:
ASUS Zenfone 4 Max: $198 USD (Php9,900)
ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie: $330 USD (Php16,500)
ASUS Zenfone 4 (Snapdragon 630): $364 USD (Php18,200)
ASUS Zenfone 4 (Snapdragon 660): $463 USD (Php23,150)
ASUS Zenfone 4 Pro: $629 USD (Php31,450)
Again, please note that these are direct conversions from the Taiwan dollar pricing from the leak source.
Let’s take for example the ASUS Zenfone 4 Max. If ASUS Philippines is able to keep to the international pricing, it’s a good buy at Php10,000. It will pack either a Snapdragon 425 or 430 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and a monstrous 5,000mAh battery to boot! Combine those with the dual 13MP shooters and that’s a crazy bang-for-your-buck smartphone.

The challenge for ASUS Philippines is straightforward. Exhaust all efforts to keep local pricing as close as possible to the international SRP. The problem with the ASUS Zenfone 3 was that the local price was way higher than the originally announced global SRP. They should not make that mistake again.
The market is now far more crowded for the mid segment. This used to be the price range that ASUS dominated when they launched the Zenfone 2 series. Last year Chinese brands OPPO, Vivo, and Huawei became insanely more aggressive while ASUS priced the Zenfone 3 out of the market. Let’s hope that they find a way to stick to their international pricing so they can be more competitive in the local scene.
We’ll be in covering the official Zenfone 4 launch later this month so stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks!
